Newborn Photshoot

Newborn Photshoot

Our little bundle of joy arrived January 5th of this year. We named him Landon Chase Roberson. He was birthed in our home so it was important to me that I have an in-home newborn photoshoot to capture the very room his life began. Our photographer Beth from Elisabeth Kate Photography helped create a collection of beautiful photos to swoon over but also memories that will last a lifetime. It was an absolute pleasure to work with her.

This was one of my favorite moments. Seeing my little guy's face illuminated by the sun shining on his skin was pure magic. Beth did an amazing job creating an ethereal look that set the mood of this series of photos.

Big brother Ethan loves his little brother and connected with him instantly. This moment captured was tear jerking.

It was such an awesome experience watching my children connect on a deep level. Big brother was apart of the whole experience. While I was in early labor he joined me for a relaxing bubble bath. We mixed epsom salt with some essential oils to help sooth labor pains. I remember him playing with his bath toys, not even able to comprehend the level of distraction he provided me from the pure agony I faced. He was the first person to see the baby once he was born into this world (besides his daddy of course).

No surprise that I am an advocate of the"normalize breast feeding" movement. You will never see me covering up with a blanket or those ridiculous nursing covers.

Breastfeeding has been the most amazing experience. With my first child, Ethan, I don't feel like I ever took enough time to really embrace every moment we had together during the special time I had with him. This time around I promised myself I would treasure every moment. Every time he nurses I make a point to look him directly in the eyes and tell him how much I love him and that he teaches me so much about myself every day. Breastfeeding is a normal part of being a mom to a little baby and boobs were made for that process to take place.

My boyfriend Aaron and I have been together for over 4 years now. We decided to try to have another baby April of last year. We got pregnant our first try with our little guy. Shortly after finding out we were pregnant we started going through the process of finding a midwife. He was very excited to have a home birth. We went through birthing classes together and he was fully supportive throughout the whole pregnancy. When I went into labor he did everything from putting the sheets onto the bed to rubbing my low back with clary sage essential oil. He is an amazing human being and he is super gorgeous. This man goes above and beyond to provide for our family so I can be a stay-at-home mom to our children. He is my everything.

Creation breeds a sense of understanding and a spiritual communion that words cannot express. I love that this picture seems to capture that very quality.

Sometimes Aaron and I seem to transcend our natural connection. After my birth with Ethan and Landon, we were on cloud 9. Our relationship was so easy and we both developed such a tremendous amount of respect for each other. We admire each other for both going through these life-changing experiences together. We are so much stronger both as a couple and as individuals because of our birth experiences.
